Shogher Hoveyan


Shogher Hoveyan was born in Yerevan, Armenia, in 1991 and grew up in a  family of artists. Already at the age of five, she learned to play the piano and gave her first solo performance at six years old.

Starting in 1997, she performed as a solo pianist and was enrolled in the P.I. Tchaikovski music school in Yerevan, Armenia, from 1998 to 2008. From 2008-2012 (Bachelor‘s degree; Class of Prof. I. Yavryan) and from 2012-2014 (Master‘s degree; Class of Prof. A. Babakhanian), Shogher studied music, majoring in piano, at the „Yerevan State Conservatory“ in Armenia. She received further pianistic education at the „Yerevan State Conservatory“ in 2014, joining the master class of Prof. A. Babakhanian. Besides numerous international performances as a solo pianist, she also started giving concerts together with symphonic orchestras, such as the „Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra“ & the „Armenian State Symphony Orchestra“ in 2006.

Since 2017, Shogher has continued her piano career at the renowned music academy „Piano Academy Neue Sterne Hannover“ in Germany (Master class of Prof. A. Mamriev). Up to this day, her education is, furthermore, complemented by master classes of well-known pianists, such as B. Berezovski, V. Ovchinnikov, W. Delahaunt and others. Shogher receives support from foundations directed at talented emerging artists, for example the „New Names of Armenia“, and she has been cooperating with the „Association Frederic Chopin Lyon“ (www.chopin-lyon.com) since 2018. From 2001 until today, Shogher has made a name for herself in numerous piano competitions, such as recently in the „Grand Prize, Concours International de Piano de Lyon“ (3rd prize, Lyon, France, 2017), the „1st Hannover-Beethoven International Music Festival and Competition“ (1st prize, Hannover, Germany, 2018) and the „4th Young Piano Stars Intern. Piano Competition“ (2nd prize, Wusterhausen, Germany, 2019).
